About Us

Dr. Suss Stables was founded by Yossi and Leah Lowenstein, a husband-and-wife team with a deep passion for helping both people and animals.
Yossi and Leah first met while working at Ohel Bais Ezra in New York, supporting individuals with special needs. There, they witnessed the powerful impact that nature and animals had on their clients—planting the early seeds of what would one day become Dr. Suss Stables. With Yossi’s animal experience and Leah’s growing interest in emotional wellness, the dream slowly took shape.
In 2018, they moved from New York to Jackson, NJ, to bring that dream to life.
It all began with just two horses — Graig and Malka — and a handful of riding lessons.
Although Leah had been afraid of animals, she worked through that fear after moving to the farm—forming deep connections with the horses that would later become partners in her therapeutic work.
That same year, they opened their first-ever petting zoo for Sukkos 2018. Seeing the joy it brought to families, they expanded to offer petting zoo days during Pesach and Sundays throughout the season.
Leah has completed her Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work and is a certified Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapist through the HERD Institute. She completed her internships at Nesivos and Lakewood Community Services Corporation (LCSC), where she worked closely with children, teens, and families. Leah blends her passion for horses with her commitment to emotional wellness, creating a space where clients of all abilities can feel seen, supported, and empowered through meaningful connections with animals.
Yossi currently works at the Special Children’s Center farm, where he provides therapeutic riding lessons and supports children with special needs through animal-based experiences. He brings that same dedication and warmth to Dr. Suss Stables as the lead riding instructor and facilitator of sensory sessions. What truly sets Yossi apart is his incredible ability to form deep, meaningful connections with clients—especially those with special needs. Families often share how quickly their children feel safe, understood, and empowered in his presence. His passion for creating a farm where every child can truly thrive is at the heart of everything he does.
Today, Dr. Suss Stables is proud to offer horseback riding, equine wellness sessions, sensory-friendly farm visits, class trips, a girls' summer camp, and seasonal petting zoo days — all on a farm where everyone is welcome to feel at home.
